We did something big

We always talked about one of the benefits of a Travel Home, is that it is truly a high performance residential build designed for hurricanes and earthquakes. This makes it great for full time travel, but also makes it like a home when you park it. It can easily be a mountain cabin, lake house, ski lodge, or an ADU or guest house. We spoke about this in a recent post - A new exit strategy? - after it was a big topic at the Tampa RV Supershow.

If you do like different areas for different seasons, this also makes for some very unique opportunities. We have met many folks who do maintain one or two homes, perhaps up in Michigan, Upstate NY, Montana, etc. for summer, and then down south for the winter. What if you simply had a parcel of land (perhaps on a lake) and then a simply structure and some RV pads for you and your guest, and then you bring home with you. With a much lower cost and tax base, you may even have more than two spots as this country is full of just fabulous places to call home.

Well, rather than just talk about it, we figured we do something about it. We were fortunate to find a fabulous water front lot on one of the finger lakes in Western NY. There is nothing on it so you can follow along as we explore and decide what we will do. The link below is to a short (~3 min) video giving you an aerial view of what we got.

Our initial plan is to build an RV garage for the truck, a small living space, and then create 3-4 pads with hookups when friends and family visits.

It has a lot of potential and we are excited to start another great project.
